  • 100g of DK weight yarn (approximately 200 meters)
  • 4mm knitting needles (US 6)
  • Tapestry needle

Instructions

Cast On

  • Cast on 96 stitches using 4mm knitting needles.
  • Join the round, being careful not to twist the stitches.

Ribbed Brim

  • Knit 1, purl 1 for 10 rounds.

Body

  • Continue knitting in 1x1 Rib Stitch (knit 1, purl 1) for 15 rounds.
  • Begin the shaping by knitting 2 stitches together, knit 24 stitches, knit 2 stitches together. Repeat this sequence around.
  • Continue knitting in 1x1 Rib Stitch for 5 rounds.
  • Repeat the shaping sequence from Step 3.
  • Continue knitting in 1x1 Rib Stitch for 3 rounds.
  • Repeat the shaping sequence from Step 3.
  • Continue knitting in 1x1 Rib Stitch for 1 round.
  • Cut the yarn, leaving a long tail.

Finishing

  • Pull the tail of yarn through the remaining stitches and tighten to close the top of the beanie.
  • Weave in any loose ends using a tapestry needle.
  • Block the beanie by pinning it out to the desired shape and size. Allow it to dry completely.

Tips

  • To adjust the size of the beanie, cast on more or fewer stitches in multiples of 8.
